The Oscilla Planter is the newest addition to the MODYLO ecosystem, part of the new MODYLO Planters collection, introducing a flowing, wavy aesthetic that brings a sense of organic movement to your space. Named for its oscillating surface pattern, this planter transforms functional 3D printing into a dynamic piece of home decor.
Anatomy of the Assembly
Like the Scarlet Prism and Fluted Sand models, the Oscilla uses the Unified DNA system to ensure perfect stacking. This specific build consists of:
- The Oscilla Planter (Top): The primary soil bed featuring an integrated D-shaped watering conduit. This allows you to water the plant through the side of the rim, keeping the topsoil clean and undisturbed.
- The Oscilla Base (Bottom): A combined structural stand and hidden water reservoir. It catches moisture channeled through the conduit, protecting your furniture while providing a high-capacity catchment area. The

The Oscilla Planter is built to be a permanent yet adaptable part of your home:
- Modular Customization: Because it shares the same internal threading as the rest of the MODYLO collection, you can mix and match. Swap the Oscilla base for a Prism sleeve or a Smooth foundation for a unique, high-contrast look.
- Functional Care: This planter is fully compatible with the MODYLO Specialized Funnel. The funnel's D-shaped adapter fits perfectly into the watering conduit, with a secondary venting path to ensure water flows smoothly without air-lock.
How to Customize

The Oscilla style is highly parametric, allowing you to tune the "flow" of the waves to your preference. In the MakerLab Parametric Model Maker, you can adjust the main dimensions and the specific ribbed wave pattern on the base body to create a custom texture.
- diameter: The main footprint of the component. Keep this consistent across stacked elements to ensure they thread together.
- height: The overall vertical height of the planter or base module.
- chamfer_top_angle: The angle applied to the top rim of the element.
- chamfer_bottom_angle: The angle applied to the bottom rim. Note: angles between 1° and 45° may impact printability depending on your settings.
- wave_length: Controls the vertical length of the ribbed wave pattern.
- wave_pattern_width: Sets the specific width of the individual rib for the wave pattern.
- wave_amplitude: Adjusts the width or intensity of the wave's curve (how "deep" the oscillation goes).
- wave_spacing: The amount of space between two ribbed waves.
- wave_thickness: The thickness of the ribbed wave pattern protruding from the body.
Pro Tip: By adjusting the wave_amplitude and wave_spacing on the base body, you can create anything from subtle ripples to aggressive, deep oscillations.
Modular Upgrade: Water Level Indicator
The MODYLO ecosystem has been upgraded with a new, smarter Planter component. I have redesigned this internal part to feature an integrated water level sensing system. Because this collection is built on Unified DNA threading, this new planter is a direct "drop-in" replacement for your current setup.
You can print the Planter and the Water Level Indicator on their own using the dedicated "MODYLO Planter Upgrade" customisation. When doing so, please ensure that the height and diameter parameters align with the specific Base you are already using to guarantee a perfect internal fit and thread engagement. Simply screw the new assembly into your existing MODYLO Bases to bring real-time water monitoring to your entire collection without needing to re-print your decorative aesthetic shells.
The Adapted Funnel

This specialized funnel is designed to perfectly complement the modular planter. It features a specific geometry adapted to fit the D-shaped, integrated watering channel of the pot.
