Description
MODYLO: The Prism Planter
A simple, geometric home for your plants.
The Prism Planter is a two-part assembly designed to bring a clean, modern look to your desk or shelf. It uses a faceted pattern of triangles that catch the light, turning a simple flower pot into a sharp decorative piece.
Like everything in the MODYLO system, it is built to be helpful and easy to use.
How it works
This version is made of just two main parts that thread together:
- The Planter (Top): This is where the soil and plant go. It has a small, D-shaped hole on the side. This is a water conduit that lets you pour water directly into the bottom part without getting the soil too wet.
- The Base (Bottom): This part acts as both the stand and a hidden water tank. Any extra water goes down the side hole and stays safely inside this base, so it won't leak onto your table.
Why it's modular
Even though this is a simple two-part build, it still shares the same "DNA" as the rest of the MODYLO collection.
- Mix and Match: If you already have other MODYLO parts, you can swap the bottom base for a taller sleeve or a different style.
- Easy Watering: I designed a matching funnel that fits perfectly into the side hole. It makes watering much easier and helps air escape so the water flows down smoothly.
How to make it yours (v2)

In V2 I have updated the following:
- possibility to change the size of the diamonds, from 15mm (default size used int he base profile) up to 45mm.
- Corrected few parameters to improve the stability of the model generation.
- Removed the internal planter (which is now external in the other parametric model).
To keep the geometric look clean, I have kept the settings very simple. In the MakerLab Parametric Model Maker, you only need to worry about three things:
- Diameter: How wide you want the pot to be.
- Height: How tall you want the planter or the base.
- Diamond diagonal: How big you want your diamonds (15mm to 45mm)
⚠️ Critical Parameter Note: To ensure your MODYLO modules stack correctly, you must match the Diameter parameter across all different editions in this collection.
Modular Upgrade: Water Level Indicator
The MODYLO ecosystem has been upgraded with a new, smarter Planter component. I have redesigned this internal part to feature an integrated water level sensing system. Because this collection is built on Unified DNA threading, this new planter is a direct "drop-in" replacement for your current setup.
You can print the Planter and the Water Level Indicator on their own using the dedicated "MODYLO Planter Upgrade" customisation. When doing so, please ensure that the height and diameter parameters align with the specific Base you are already using to guarantee a perfect internal fit and thread engagement. Simply screw the new assembly into your existing MODYLO Bases to bring real-time water monitoring to your entire collection without needing to re-print your decorative aesthetic shells.
The Adapted Funnel

This specialized funnel is designed to perfectly complement the modular planter. It features a specific geometry adapted to fit the D-shaped, integrated watering channel of the pot.
- Adapted Interface: It features a specific geometry adapted to fit the D-shaped, integrated watering channel.
- Integrated Venting: A small integrated channel at the interface of the Adapted Funnel ensures a separate venting path. This prevents trapped air from obstructing water flow, making the watering process efficient.
