Hey everyone. Here is my attempt to model the Dunny art toy by Kidrobot. Both the arms and head are articulated.
There are two sizes to print:
- Small is ~7.3cm (~2.9in) → hands can hold “brick” compatible accessories
- Medium is ~8.8cm (~3.5in) → hands can hold Dummy13 accessories
I intend to make some custom Dunny's from this base model, so watch this space.
Happy printing!
Building Instructions
- Fit the neck pin into the body. This is designed to be tight so it takes a bit of effort to get in. If you can't use your thumb, then press it down against a table. You can usually hear a couple of clicking sounds as it goes in.
- Fit the arms before the head. Neaten up the fingers with a model knife and remove any sag from the arm pin. Then gradually rotate it around while pushing it into the arm socket.
- Push the head down on to the neck pin. If there is a gap between the head and the body, then the neck pin needs to be pushed further into the body first.
Printing notes
- The head prints without supports, but I experimented printing it with supports as well. It was difficult to determine which gave the overall better result. Without supports, the underside is a little uneven, but with supports it was probably smoother, but then required more post processing and cutting away a circular trim at the base. For white, this didn't cause any noticeable issues, but as soon as you cut away a coloured filament, then it looks whiter compared to the rest. So this is why I decided to go ahead with no supports in the profile.
