Tradition Meets Parametric Design
The Ryokan Lamp is a tribute to the timeless aesthetics of Japanese paper lanterns, reimagined through modern parametric engineering.
This model is a study in controlled harmony. By manipulating the depth and intensity of its rhythmic ridges, you can transition the shade from a nearly smooth, minimalist column to a deeply sculpted, architectural piece. The horizontal bands are specifically designed to catch light in gradients, mimicking the soft, diffused glow of traditional washi paper while maintaining the structural durability of 3D-printed geometry.

Customization
The Ryokan is fully parametric, allowing you to fine-tune the oscillation of the shade to match your interior.





Key Parameters:
- Base Height & Diameter: Define the proportions of the stable foundation.
- Lampshade Height & Diameter: Set the overall scale of your light source.
- Effect Depth (0% – 100%): Controls the vertical scale of the valleys. Increase this value for large, sweeping waves or decrease it for a tighter, more compact texture.
- Effect Intensity (0% – 100%): Controls the horizontal peak. At 0%, the surface is nearly smooth; at 100%, the peaks become sharp and eccentric, creating dramatic shadows.
Note: This model is designed to be Customized, not Resized. This ensures that the internal threads and the integrated cable path for the Bambu Lab LED kit remain perfectly functional.
Printing Instructions
- Lampshade: Isolate on its own plate and enable Vase Mode (Spiralize Outer Contour). Set bottom layers to 0.
- Base: Includes a dedicated cutout for clean wire management. Use the Arachne wall generator for the best structural results.
- Material Recommended: For the classic Ryokan look, use a matte white or natural translucent PLA to maximize the soft diffusion of the ridges.
