MODYLO: The Basalt Lamp
Geometric precision meets raw architectural form.
The Basalt Lamp brings a bold, structural presence to the MODYLO collection. Inspired by the sharp, interlocking geometry of natural basalt columns, the lampshade features a deep hexagonal honeycomb pattern. This multi-layered design creates a striking interplay of light and shadow, with the internal light puck illuminating the varied thickness of the hexagonal cells to produce a distinct, high-contrast glow. It is the ideal choice for industrial or modern spaces that require a statement lighting piece.

Anatomy of the Assembly
- Smooth Base: A clean, minimalist foundation with a female connection.
- Lamp Connector: The internal bridge that houses the Bambu Lab Light Puck.
- Lampshade Arms: Structural supports that snap into the connector—no glue required.
- Basalt Lampshade: The complex, wave-textured shade designed specifically for Vase Mode printing.
A Note on Customization Tooling
While MODYLO is built to be fully parametric, I’ve decided to temporarily hold off on enabling the MakerWorld Customizer tool for new uploads. I’ve noticed that the current system doesn't always recognize or support models printed this way, which unfortunately impacts how these designs are shared and discovered by others in the community.
I’m still fully committed to the "Customize, Don’t Resize" philosophy and I make sure every model is ready for adaptation. In the meantime, if you need a version with specific dimensions or a different pattern density, please just let me know in the comments. I’m more than happy to generate and upload a custom print profile for you.
Printing Instructions
For the best results, please take example on the default model:
- Lampshade: Move to its own plate and enable Vase Mode (Spiralize Outer Contour). Set bottom layers to 0, 0.6 mm line width .
- Base & Connector: Use the Arachne wall generator for precise thread fit and a seamless exterior finish.
- Material: We recommend a "Natural" or "Translucent" PLA for the shade to achieve the best light diffusion.
