Description
MODYLO: The Oscilla Lamp
Illuminating the modular framework.
The Oscilla Lamp is a striking example of how the MODYLO ecosystem extends beyond simple storage or gardening. By utilizing the system's unified diameter, this build transforms a collection of 3D-printed parts into a functional, atmospheric lighting piece. The iconic wavy pattern not only provides a tactile aesthetic but, when used as a lampshade, creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.
Anatomy of the Assembly
- Oscilla Base: A standard MODYLO foundation featuring the signature wavy pattern.
- Lamp Connector: A threaded bridge designed to house a Bambu Lab Light Puck. The puck fits snugly into the central round base of the connector.
- Lampshade Arms: These arms press-fit tightly into the connector base—no glue is required.
- Oscilla Lampshade: A specialized shade designed to diffuse light through its oscillating geometry.
How to Customize

The Oscilla Lamp is fully parametric in the MakerLab Customizer, allowing you to scale the lamp to your space:
- base_diameter: The footprint of the base (Minimum 85mm to ensure the Light Puck fits).
- base_height: The vertical height of the bottom foundation.
- lampshade_diameter: Adjusts the width of the shade.
- lampshade_height: Adjusts the vertical scale of the shade.
Note: This design is optimized for the Bambu Lab Light Puck (I'm working on adding other types of lamps/bulb). As for all the MODYLO series, keeping the diameter consistent between the elements will insure compatibility
Critical Printing Instructions
The Fusion 360 export requires manual slicing adjustments. Refer to the default print profile for these exact settings:
- Split to Objects: In your slicer, split the .3mf file into individual parts.
- Lampshade Settings: Move the shade to its own plate and apply:
- Vase Mode (Spiralize Outer Contour).
- Bottom Shell Layers: 0.
- Outer Brim: For stability.
- Aesthetics: Print the shade support arms in the same color as the shade for a seamless look.
- Quality: Use the Arachne Wall Generator for the base and connector to ensure clean rib printing.
Assembly Guide
The MODYLO lamp is designed for a tool-free, snap-fit assembly that utilizes the system's signature threading.
- Prepare the Connector:
- Insert the three support arms into the slots on the central Lamp Connector. These are designed for a tight friction fit and do not require glue.
- Place the Bambu Lab Light Puck into the central recessed base of the connector. It should fit snugly.
- Attach to Base:
- Screw the fully assembled Lamp Connector onto your chosen MODYLO Base (such as the Oscilla or Tessela style). Ensure the threads are aligned for a flush finish.
- Mount the Lampshade:
- Carefully lower the Lampshade over the assembly.
- Align the rectangular inserts located at the bottom of the shade with the hooks on the support arms.
Explore the MODYLO Lamp Collection
The Oscilla Lamp is just one part of a larger modular world. Every edition uses the same "Unified DNA," so you can mix, match, and stack parts across different styles to suit your needs.

- Oscilla Lamp: A modular lighting assembly utilizing a light puck. It features a wave-inspired base and a spiral-printed shade that creates rhythmic light patterns.
- Tessela Lamp: An architectural design featuring a repeating hexagonal matrix on the shade, paired with a minimalist Smooth Base for a clean, modern look.
- Aeolian Lamp: An organic design featuring fluid, wind-swept waves on the shade for a dynamic and natural light diffusion.
- Smooth Lamp: For those seeking the ultimate minimalist aesthetic, this version features both a smooth lampshade and a smooth base, offering clean lines and soft, even light diffusion.
- Basalt Lamp: A structural, hexagonal honeycomb design that creates a striking interplay of light and shadow through its architectural geometry.
- Crest Lamp: A bold, architectural design featuring deeply recessed hexagonal cells that create a rhythmic honeycomb effect when illuminated.
- Vertex Lamp: A sophisticated design featuring a dense triangular tessellation that creates a crystalline, multi-faceted light effect.
- Ryokan Lamp: A parametric homage to traditional lanterns, offering complete control over the depth and intensity of its rhythmic, light-diffusing ridges.
