Description

  • Update 1: Changed the print profile for the bottle blocks. Reduced amount of wall loops to 3, and the infill to 10% to reduce print time and save a bit on filament.
  • Update 2: Added print recommendations.

Paint Rack Stack Folding Holder (6x5)

Now also available a 5x4 version that is A1 Mini Compatible, which can be found here.

I don't have a workshop, hobby room, or even a hobby station. A couple of drawers and shelves are what I have to store my stuff.
That is why I've designed this paint holder. It folds up for storage, and down to have a nice sorted overview of all my paints when I take a spot at the table to paint.

As I have a mix of different paint bottles/containers, I've designed the holder such that different bottles can be placed without the need for inserts or changing out parts to fit my needs. The bottles of Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter all fit. Even the large Citadel bottles fit!

The locking mechanism is a print in place flexible part.

The bottle blocks have a slot on the back for the lock and stand parts to connect to. I've left all the others in place so that all blocks stick out the same way on the back, creating a nice flat surface. It also leaves enough room to connect things in case someone comes up with a handy tool to add to it!!

Print Recommendations

I recommend to use 4 wall loops for the beams and the lock and stand legs, as those need rigidity for their snap fit connections. The beams need supports (slim suffices) for the snap-fit pins. These supports need to be removed before assembly.

The bottle racks would suffice with 3 wall loops and 10% infill. These also can be printed without support.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Place two beams with the pints upwards and press the first bottle block on the pins.
  2. Continue with the rest of the bottle blocks.
  3. Press the pins of the other beams in the holes on top of the bottle blocks.
  4. Place the assembly face down and tilt the bottle blocks such that the underside is facing up.
  5. Take one Lock and Stand Long and place it at the indicated slot. There should only be one way to make it fit.
  6. Press firmly until it slides in place.
  7. Take the second Lock and Stand Long and place it on the opposite side and press firmly until it slides in place.
  8. Take the Lock and Stand and place it at the indicated slots. There should be only one way to make it fit.
  9. Press firmly until both clips slide in place.
  10. Compress the lock
  11. While compressed rotate the blocks and release the lock in place.
  12. Enjoy your own Paint Rack Stack Folding Holder!
