Description

Upgrade kit for the IKEA Harvmatta

Or discontinued: IKEA - Kvissle

With this kit you have more options and variety to place the trays on different heights. So you can use the letterbox more efficiently!

Ideal for miniature tabletop storage!

Instructions

The corner brace pieces are there to stabilize the corners. Once section is thicker on the inside, so they hook behind the flat hemmed steel plate ridge of the top and bottom of the box. They should snap in place. You need the normal and the mirrored part twice for all four corners.

Take note that these corner braces need to be printed on their side. That way you ensure that the entire corner has the maximum strength from the printed part.

The angled parts of the “IKEA - HARVMATTA Tray Slats End” pieces fit nicely in the top and bottom rows behind the lip of the steel sheet plates.

Al pieces should fit snugly and stay on their own. They might however slide so I used a bit of superglue to secure them.

You can fit four 60mm wide per row, but the print would be rather tall and prone to failure. Use glue for better buildplate adhesion.

I printed them at 45mm high and only used two per row. This means the trays do need a little bit of extra guidance to slide them in.

Update: I've added 3 build plates but with brim to the print profile. These are the same components on  the first three plates. This might help with bed adhesion in case you don't want to use glue or it still won't stick to the plate.

Personal Use Case

I use these boxes to store my war-hammer 40k miniatures. With some magnets underneath the bases they will nicely stick to the steel drawers.
With a heatgun (or hairdryer set to hot) I softened the glue underneath the cork from the metal side, and got the cork off quite well. You could also just flip the drawer tray upside down if you don't want to go through the trouble.

Hope you can enjoy the upgraded IKEA - HARVMATTA as much as I do.

Happy printing!
