Design
Introducing FishCam - the fishing rod cellphone camera / video mount.
Ever wish you had a third hand to catch the action as you are reeling in a prize catch or to show your friends the one that really did get away. Well now you can. Even better, this is a great way to put your old cell phone to use again.
FishCam securely mounts to your fishing rod (10 mm - 0.4 inch diameter and up) by means of four no. 8 flat head screws.
It features:
- A case that easily and quickly fliips open to insert and remove your phone;
- The case can be locked in position or left to sway with the rod to catch all the action.
- The phone is securely locked in place by means of two bolts and nuts while allowing you to use the phone buttons.
- A retaining knob provides a back-up to ensure the case does not slide off the attachment
- Large and medium sized phone cases are provided:
The large phone case works with phones 79 mm (3.1 inch) x 165 mm (6.5 inch) and will work with:
- IPhone 15 Pro Max
- Iphone 14 Plus
- Samsung S23 ultra
- Sanmsung S23 Plus
- Google Pixel 8 Pro
- Xiaomi F6 and F6 Pro
The medium phone case works with phones 74 mm (2.9 inch) x 152 mm (6 inch) and will work with:
- Iphone 15 Pro
- Iphone 15
- Iphone 14
- Samsung S23
- Google Pixel 8.1
- Google Pixel 8
Assembly
To assemble mount the holder to your fishing rod using four no. 8 flat head screws. Insert the phone in the case and secure the case shut by means of the two bolts and nuts. Mount the case on the holder using the nut. Secure the nut in place with the retaining knob.
3d printing
Printing profiles are provided for both large and small cases for the P1 and X1.
I have provided a separate print profile for the bottom clamp. Although I have tested the 0.2mm standard build while casting, I have changed this part to 0.2mm strenght with 8 layers which should provide an extra safety margin.
My designs
I enjoy creating 3d models that others can use and appreciate. It is a very fun pastime. I find it very rewarding to see my models downloaded and printed. I put lots of thought, time and effort to create each model print out multiple iterations to make sure it works just right.
