Description

VERSA MOUNT

The modular car Headrest hook and hanger system

Boost Me

If you enjoyed this model and want to encourage me to come up with more original and innovative designs please consider boosting this model.  I mainly design more unique and complex models that take longer to print.  Due to print time they get downoloaded less frequently than quick to print models.  Boost are a way to compensatie for this and are always greatly appreciated.   Thank you

Design

I often need to hang my suit jacket, shirt or my dry cleaned clothes in my car to avoid them becoming wrinkled.  My hyper shedding German shepherd/Malinois often rides in the back seat so setting these down on the back seat is really not an option.  I noticed a number of head rest hook systems that are featured in the contest.  The designs are very well made and quite innovative.  Unfortunately I could not find one that feature a coat hanger.  I simply wish to have a place to hang a coat hanger as I already have plenty of those and don’t really see the need to 3d print another.

So I decided to design a head rest with a coat hanger.  I also thought it interesting to make it modular to add extra features and options.

My design features the following:

  • Slide on head rest hook system with “Print in place rotating bushing”

My car requires me to remove the emergency key from the FOB to remove the headrest.  I wanted a quicker and simpler mounting method. A slide on hook with a locking mechanism was the better option.

  • Adjustable for different post distances

My design uses a pivot mechanism and can be used with a wide range of post distances.

  • A slide-on modular mounts and holders

It can accommodate different holder options including:

  • Coat hanger ( I opted for 3 standard hangers);
  • Phone holder;
  • Nintento Switch

I have also included blank slide-on holders (short and long) that can be used to quickly make your own custom holders. If you do let me know and I can post a link to your model so all can benefit;

  • Two heavy duty hooks

They can be used for grocery bags and other items.  My wife uses it to hang her purse.

  • Cup holder

Securely attaches to the hooks. If there is an interest (please let me know in the comments) I could model and upload a can and red bull holder.

3D PRINTING

For convenience I have provided printing profiles for the A1, X1 and P1.

You can print the vertical bracket upright or laying down on the X1 and P1.  Laying down saves half the time.  I printed mine without any support so you can disregard warnings for support.

IMPORTANT:

Print the nuts and bolts with 0.20 mm strength and 50% infill.  Printing profile is provided.

The bolt screws from the top and the nut has a bushing that allows them to pivot easily.

My designs

I enjoy creating 3d models that others can use and appreciate.  It is a very fun pastime.   I find it very rewarding to see my models downloaded and printed.  I put lots of thought, time and effort to create each model print out multiple iterations to make sure it works just right.

If you liked my model and wish to encourage me please give it a like or a boost. If you wish you can also help me with my filament costs.  Thank you.

Printed with Jayo PETG on my P1S. Unfortunately mine ended up with a too-tight fit when I inserted the Top of the Holder (where your suit hangs on…) to the base. I got a crack on the side and I am not able to fully slide it in. My printer is calibrated and should print fine… Any ideas?

Hi Sorry to hear about that. I am curious about what may have caused this.. If you want I can scale the holder and pm it to you and it should work (you can also do this in Bambu studio). I would consider lenghtening the unit with scaling to give a bit more space between the u-shaped clip and the holder. FYI I printed about 4 of them and a few were built and no issues so curious what caused this. BTY did you print lying flat on the bed or at an angle?

hey and thanks for your answer, if I am the only one where these tolerances are too tight, I should start on searching for a solution on my side. As I stated I used Jayo PETG with the included print profile here at makerworld. my Orca Tolerance test says my printer is doing 0.1mm… I will PM you if I think scaling is the solution - thank you and br :)

Thanks for the follow up. I can tell you that changing filaments from PETG to PLA or from an open vs enclosed build will change these as will extrude temp etc. I tend to solve these with trial and error. Print, check and adjust tolerances. Let me know how it goes and I will try to help as best I can. Regards
