Description

Wraps the edges of a Beyond Plastic 1kg cardboard spool with 199mm diameter

Features

  • Improves contact and rotation in the AMS
  • Protective layer to prevent cardboard from deteriorating and cardboard dust damaging the AMS
  • Integrated filament clip (optional)
  • Name clearly visible to identify what spool it is for
  • Sturdy design - I found that many other designs were too thin and broke easily when removed.
  • Avoids blocking filament holes in the cardboard spool

Instructions

  • Always measure your spool first to ensure the diameter matches the adapter
  • The ‘right' ring has the filament clip must be on the right side when the spool is in the AMS.
  • If you don't need the filament clip, print two ‘left’ rings.
  • See photos

Notes

  • Material: I recommend PETG or PHA as they are more flexible and less prone to breakage.
  • The PHA print profile contains my calibrations for Beyond Plastic PHA Red

Thanks for these. They are perfect for my 3de Premium and 3de MAX filament rolls from the local Danish shop 3DEksperten. The only thing is, the filament clip is VERY tight for PLA prints, but I fix it by running a screwdriver through to expand a bit - then they can clip. If I had the skill, I would give the filament clip 0,1-0,2 mm extra width. Thanks for sharing these.

@DKNiA I'd be happy to tweak the clip size up a little for PLA for you. And I can make a version with 3DEksperten label. Would you be willing to help me test it?

Hi @anselor Just noticed the reply here - thanks, that would be awesome :-) Yes, I would most definitely be willing to test a tweaked version. It's not by much the clip needs expanding, but currently next to impossible to press into the ridge without the screwdriver "treatment". I have measured the filament to be 1.75-1.76 mm (micrometer screw), so they seem to be only slightly oversized, but maybe stiffer than normal PLA.

@anselor Sorry - only now noticed your kind response. A 3DEksperten Tweak would be awesome! :-D Thanks! I would definitely love to test it. I've measured the filaments to be 1.75-1.76mm mith a mictometer screw - same as Bambu. So it's maybe because of it being stiffer that the problems of getting the filament to clip in arises. Looking forward to a prototype :-D
