Hello friends,here is the ONLY and ORIGINAL universal cardboard spool adapter for AMS V2.0 .
This adapter is "almost" universal. In fact, thanks to its shape and the elasticity of the plastic (preferably PETG) this tool adapts to most cardboard spool formats. This feature is also useful in the case of smaller formats: the springs also work as shock absorbers during the rotation of the spool ( as you can see on the picture posted by the user SkillBilly (his page here) ).
- Edit Mon 12 August : V2.0 is out !! This new version of the adapter differs from the previous ones due to the presence of holes on the external circumference and the presence of a pin-ring system to hold the adapter more securely to the cardboard using their premade clipping holes where coincidents (especially when they arrive home too bent).
By loading this profile you will have 5 plates available, each of which has an adapter, 4 pins and 4 rings and range from a thickness of 4mm to 8mm.
The pins have a very narrow tolerance so they can hold on their own. If your printer settings make the tolerance zero or too important, think about increasing or decreasing the XY HOLE COMPENSATION value in bambulab studio (by a few tenths/hundredths of a millimetre)
- Edit Wed 17 Juliet: I noticed that spools with narrower internal circumference exist, so I added 4 to 7 mm height spool adapters that fit these kind of spools
- Edit Wed 10 Juliet: In the STL section of “download” you will finally find different adapter for spool going from 4 to 8 mm cardboard thickness. Please consider to measure the thickness of your spool and than download the model you need (and repalce it in the general bambulab studio file).
NOTE: some cardboard models are slightly different from the standard measurements declared by the manufacturer. Please note that AMS accepts coils up to 202mm in diameter and so even a slight oversize from the factory could render the coil unusable with any adapter.
