AMS Cardboard spools UNIVERSAL ADAPTER V4.0

This model now offers parametric adjustment. Simply choose the desired width and height. Please note: The maximum dimensions tolerated by an AMS system are 202 mm maximum and 197 mm minimum diameter. I also recommend measuring the thickness of the cardboard reel and printing the adapter with a height increased by 1 mm.

After a quick change made to version 2 with the pin and the ring, I wanted to mathematically and physically rework some details of the adapter and despite some doubts which later dissipated I created the adapter with 8 arms and with hooks that certainly have greater grip (now if you're asking yourself where the version 3 is… well I'll be honest: it was horrible so i never published it!! lol).

The fact of having 8 spokes facilitates universality with the holes and therefore the choice of where and how to place the pins with the rings. In fact you can find 3 holes for each spoke.

ATTENTION: The pins and rings are just something added but not necessarily needed by the adapter which remains secure even without their use. (If the pin won't fit just scratch a little the holes you need, very little. The pin has to be very tight to be functional. If it is too loose it could risk to fall at the bottom of the AMS…)

Let's say that it is an additional security where, sometimes, the cardboard is bent too much by the packaging…
 

Unfortunately, as I had already written in previous versions, the AMS has limited space and therefore it will never be possible to build an adapter for coils with larger circumferences (max 202mm) or you would risk the adapter rubbing with the lid of the machine.

For this first release you will find 5 plates with 5 adapters with different heights (there are spools ranging from 4 to 7 or even 8 mm thick!!). These are intended for coils up to 200mm in circumference (to which a thickness of 0.6 of plastic is added) for a total of 201.2.
Due to some tiny differences (even between the same filaments of the same brands) in the cuts of the spools, I will soon integrate another profile with adapters for a total of 202mm (the maximum): i.e. spool of 200.8 mm plus 0.60 (x 2 obviously ) mm thickness of the adapter.
