Description

The Sunflower Windmill - Self adjusting Sunflower wind turbine

Need a bit more wind, but can turn fast as well. Great spring & summer garden decoration

Beautiful Windmill with a Sunflower Propeller Design
Self adjusting to wind direction through the Tail Blade
100% printed, no Screws or tools needed
You can add 2 Propellers on one Axle with 2 distances
Choose your propeller sizes and directions (You get nice effects if you choose different directions)
Rods are stack able to your needed height

Printing:

The rod could be a bit difficult to print, i added custom support, but clean your buildplate and apply some glue.

Profile is tested with PETG & PLA 👍🏼 Prefer PETG for Axle and Rod

Info:

This time the Axle is a bit shorter to add only 2 propeller with 10mm and 2 distances with 5mm each.

And i slightly redesigned the tail blade to match the sunflower design. My other windmills are still fully compatible if you want to mix it up:

I added some orange and purposely sat the flushing from yellow to orange and from orange to yellow to 0 to make a fading/bleeding effect. I think it came out pretty neat 😁 I had some error on the black first layer, but that is because of me and not the design

How/where exactly did you add the orange? On the inner "triangle" looking part near the center/seed area?? I would love to do something similar. Looks fantastic!

I added an extra filament to the ams (lite) and coloured the inner part where i wanted it to be orange, let me just say it was a chore!!! It really required patience :)

Awesome design. Printed in silk gold and silk orange. the video doesn’t do it justice for how cool it looks. Looks even better when the sun is out and reflecting off the silk PLA as it spins.

So, it turns on that 40-50 MPH wind gust can cause the rod to snap at the point where it slides into the clamp. Going to try increasing the infill, more walls and printing the rod laying down on it's side to see if that will add some strength to it? Any thoughts?

Hello Sorry to bother you, but i am having problems getting the center black, i have put black and yellow in the AMS but its only printing one colour, any idea what i'm doing wrong ? just dont know what to do to get the 2 colours. This is pretty new to me Thanks for any info

This was very simple to print! The parts were very easy to assemble and a huge plus for not requiring any extra tools or hardware to put together. The wheels spin very easily and has no problems rotating to face the wind. Definitely would recommend anyone to print!

One of the nicest prints I've done in a long while! Printed in Bambu PETG black and purple (to replicate echinacea). The very fine honeycomb structure didn't adhere here and there, but it all worked out. It assembles very well and moves very well. There's enough clearance to allow it to move freely where it's needed, yet parts like the cap fit snugly. Thank you for the model! I may print more for family.
