Description

Toroidal Windmill - Self adjusting turbine

Looks like a spinning flower and no much wind is needed.

YouTube Short

  • Beautiful Windmill with toroidal Propeller Blades
  • Self adjusting to wind direction (Tail Blade Reworked)
  • 100% printed, no Screws or tools needed
  • You can add 3 Propellers on one Axle with 2 distances
  • Full customizable with different propeller sizes and directions (I plan to add more cool propeller types as well)
  • Rods are stack able to your needed height

Printing:

You can choose Propellers from 3 Print Profiles

  • Basic Parts with Left& Right Propeller to choose
  • Additional Propeller Blades
  • Additional Slower Propeller *New

You can mix the propellers from these profiles.

  • added one profile for A1mini without the biggest blade as well

The rod could be a bit difficult to print, i added custom support, but clean your buildplate and apply some glue.

PETG & PLA tested👍🏼

Assembly:

Info:

  • Added custom support to the horizontal printing rod
  • Added optional longer axle for more distance between propellers (10mm instead of 5mm).  With stronger wind the bigger blades should not collide.

The Pitch from the Basic Blades:

  • Big - Pitch 195mm
  • Med - Pitch 170mm
  • Small - Pitch 135mm

Additional Propeller Blades with different numbers of Wings:

  • Big - Pitch 190mm
  • Med - Pitch 160mm
  • Small - Pitch 130mm

Additional “Slower” Propeller Blades:

  • Big - Pitch 400mm
  • Med - Pitch 325mm
  • Small - Pitch 250mm

Thanks to all followers and don't forget the virtual handshake 👍 ….Happy Printing

Wonderful design, thanks for sharing. I printed two windmills using PETG. One of the mounts broke very easily during assembly but it was old filament, perhaps that was the problem. The new filament held up fine. I didn't bother with the pointed shaft, instead I designed a simple adapter to mount the windmill on top of a standard green garden stake. It's not much but f you would like the file I would be honored to share it with you, no credit necessary. Thanks again for such a sweet design. Not sure how to rate, it's missing on my browser but 100% for sure.

How did you create such a nice colartion? With the "change color/ filament" function in a certain layer hight?

Replying to @Infospam :
Yes i changed the colour in the bambu studio slicer program. I started with white, changed to another colour at layer 15 then back to white at layer 35. If you dont have AMS then you will need to put pauses at those layer heights and swap colours manually. I can upload the print profile if you want. :)

5 Stars for sure. Awesome design. Very quick to print. I printed in a mix of PLA rainbow silk and translucent red PETG. The PETG is lighter and spends much quicker/easier, but they all work fine. Just waiting on a breeze now.

Great design, looks very nice, I printed Rod horizontally, so it will be more sturdy.

Cool look! Thanks for the first review🥇 I tested it out a few days with my vertical print orientation and its still alive. I decided this orientation because of accuracy for spinning. But if it is working and spinning in your horizontal print thats superb😉👍
