Description

This is an updated larger version of Hornet's Needle from Silksong or Hollow Knight.

I hope this model gives you exactly what you need for Halloween or Cosplay. If you like it, please give me a boost or share pictures of your final product. I really enjoy seeing people get value out of my models.

My original version was designed for a teen or younger (link below) and used conduit pipe as the core. While that model did well, I got LOTS of requests to make it compatible with PVC pipe and make it bigger overall. This new version is 5 feet long and uses a 38 inch core of 1/2 inch PVC pipe (then standard white stuff you use in sprinkler systems). I designed it to be proportionately sized for an adult wearing the mask and costume. Despite the size it takes under 6 hours to print and uses about 200g of filament.

This design uses a 38 inch core of ½ inch PVC pipe, this gives it strength and connects the pieces together. (You can use that link, but I would just got to the hardware store, I spent like $5 for 10 feet for mine.)

Assembly Guide
1. Cut your PVC pipe to 38 inches.

2. Put part 2 into the top of part 1 and the bottom of part 3. Verify that you don't get a gap between parts 1 and 3. If the parts begin binding up and aren't easy to slide together, don't force it! Remove part 2, sand it a bit and try again. When they fit nicely, add some glue (I like super glue).
3. Slide parts 4 onto the PVC pipe, then add the combined part from step 2 to the end of the pipe (you may have to remove the supports from part 1). Then you can align part 4 with the combined part from step 2 and glue them in place.
4. Slid part 5 onto the pipe and align it with the combined part from step 3 and glue it in place.
5. Attach part 6 to the end of the pipe, orient as desired (I did mine so that the widest part of part 6 was aligned with the widest part of the combined part from 4. Glue it in place when you are happy with it.

Because the PVC pipe is white, you will also want to paint it. I spray painted mine with a light coat of Krylon Fusion Hammered Silver Finish, and it is totally worth it.
