Large Hornet Mask (Silk Song Hollow Knight) Adult
Print Profile(7)

Description
Seven months ago I built the Hornet mask from Hollow Knight, with the release of Silk Song that mask has gotten more attention than any of my other designs. My original design was made for my kids and fit them perfectly, but was a bit too small to fit on an adults head. Because I have gotten so many requests, I redesigned this mask so that it would easily fit adults. The dimensions are mostly the same as the original but it is a bit taller proportionately (I can't make it any wider without it not fitting the xy dimensions of the print bed). I also solved several small issues I had with the original that make it a bit better (square connectors, slightly improved eye shape, and more filament efficient).
In the pictures above you will see the relative size difference between this adult version against the child/teen version.
Will this mask fit my head? Good question, but hard to answer. It fits my head at a 23" ball cap circumference and 27" from crown to jaw circumference, if I wear a thick winter hat and increase both of those numbers by 1.5" to 24.5" and 28.5" it still fits, but just barely. Unless you are known for your large head, it will probably fit. You may want to scale it down slightly based on your own measurements.

I really hope you enjoy the mask! I always appreciate a boost or even just a photo of your finished product. Thanks!
Assembly tips:
This should be pretty easy to put together, but there are a couple things to be aware of. I used a bit of glue (Gluemasters thick viscosity) to stick it all together. Ensure you have the horns on the correct side before gluing it together. When connecting the face mask together, I used a little duct tape to ensure that the pieces were held tightly together, clamps are also helpful. You will have some small gaps between the pieces so I recommend covering it with a thick layer of paint to make it look perfect. This model also has slots in the side, so that you can add a strap to connect it to your head. Probably the trickiest part is gluing fabric on the inside for the eyes. I used a black mesh fabric I bought at a fabric store and it looks great, I usually do 2 layers so that it is very dark on the outside but still permits good vision from the inside.
Printing tips:
Overall it is an easy print, I painted on some support area for the bottom half of the mask to keep it stable and prevent any issues late in the print.
