Description
I'm a fan of Multiconnect, so I decided to add it to my hinge design to allow two multiboard or HSW tiles to be connected by a hinge. This follows from my previous model I made for Multiboard, which is designed for a push fit.
I created this hinge using my SCAD Hinge Design in conjunction with David D's Multiconnect designs. The multiboard tile generator can be found here and the HSW generator here.
Model Features:
- Snap on Multiconnect for snug fitting to either Multiboard or HSW
- Removed edges of the Multiconnect fittings to minimize impact to nearby Multiboard/HSW connectors.
- Multiconnect simplifies attaching and detaching the hinges.
- No “slippage” between hinge knuckles that will make the tiles shift up and down
- 5mm leaf thickness adds strength. Message me if you desire a different thickness
- Multiconnectors are provided in different orientations as options to prevent strengthen the hinge based on their use case.
3D printing notes:
- Requires Tree Supports on build plate only
- First time closing (breaking in) the hinge will require a little bit of strength in order to get the hinge to move
- Any multiconnect screw in connector works, but David D's connectors seem to work well for me.
Note:
Due to how Multiconnect works, the tiles are not as tightly held together as the push fit connector version I created. The trade off is that this version is much easier to remove and reposition.
