Description

I wasn't a fan of other Parametric Hinges, so I developed one that met my needs. I tried to keep it SIMPLE so that others can easily create with it. The SCAD design can be accessed through the “Customize” button.  

 

Version 1.1 Updates: 

  • Beefed up the Locking Pin to make it larger and stronger
  • Reduced default setting of knuckle gap to 0.2mm for optimal hinge settings

Purposes:

  • Add a hinge to your project, remix or 3D Design
  • Print a hinge for your own use

 

Main Customizable Features:

  • Leaf Length
  • Leaf Width
  • Leaf Thickness
  • Knuckles (3, 5, 7)
  • Screw Holes Radius (1-5mm)
  • Screw Hole Count (0-7)
  • Countersinks
  • Rounded Edges (0-20mm)
  • Locking Pin (on/off)
  • Print Orientation

 

Why choose this over other parametric hinges?

  • Easier to customize
  • Locking Pin
  • Option for no screw holes
  • Leaf thickness associated to knuckle radius which means that strength scales with size.
  • Minimized knuckle gap to provide hinge “slippage”

 

I used this to develop a multiboard hinge. I would love to see other's designs as well and will post my favourites here. 

 

This is my first SCAD design, so I'm open to suggestions for improvement :)
