Description

Build your own plant support trellis

Clip together multiple hexagons to make the support shapes you need.

Add feet modules, and corner pieces to design your own frames, panels or towers - go as wide or high as you need, and add on extras as your plants grow.

There are a few similar designs out there, but none seemed to have flexibility and elegance I was looking for.

This design features a double-hexagon, and has a set of lateral holes to make it easy to tie plants in to:

This model is for the core hexagons:

You can then add extra parts:

Corners

Combine as many as you need to assemble your plant support.

This example uses 8 x hexagons, 4 x feet, 8 x corners

Printing

This prints well in PLA or PETG. No need for supports.

Assembly notes

  • The parts clip together using alternating dovetails - no need for any non-printed parts.

  • If your printer is dialled in nicely these should fit together nicely and firmly, but you can always dab a little glue on the joints if you need (I've not found the need to do this myself)

  • When you have two modules already connected, and are joining the third, place the new on in position at an angle with the corner touching the existing ones, and gently twist to align both sides at once.

  • If you are adding one where three edges need to be connected at the same time it takes a little more fiddling, but it possible and relies on the plastic being a little flexible.
