Bambulab Silica System [V4]

Prologue

Hi guys,

it's more than a year I released my Silica-Containers for Bambu-spools and they are now widely spread through the community. First of all thanks for this!! It was also the community who triggered some more thoughts about the containers. I can't remember right now how many of the [loose] containers fell out of my spools and I had all the silica on the ground (I'm always forgetting about them when I exchange spools in the AMS).

The community project also targetted this problem a bit as these containers are more robust than the older ones.. ..but they still sometimes fell out of my spools. Even they didn't break it was annoying :P So I decided to create something new. And here it is:

My new Bumbulab Silica System fully compatible with the community project's base container :)

Why do I talk about a system?

Because there is more to come :) 

• I will add LID-Adapters from time to time to make the system also compatible to other spools!
• I will maintain a list of completely compatible self-printed spools (see the end of the description) without the neccessity of special LIDs
• I will add other models which will make use of the adapter (Bambu-Spool):

And of course there are various configurations you can make use of :)

a.)  Permanent Solution - Bambulab only - starts with an empty spool

Whenever you have an empty Bambu-Spool you can open the spool and use the adapter. You insert it and turn it a few degrees (clockwise). Then it is already fixed. By connecting one half of the spool to the other it's entirely fixed and can never fall out even it moves back as long as you do not open the spool.

Now you can use all lids / solutions (see for more solutions below).

Permanent solution only → use the smaller direct lids and the adapter

I recommend printing the permanent adapter with at least PETG as you won't take it out when drying the spool (with refilled filament).

You can also use the permanent adapter in a full spool. It's just a bit risky but here you can see that it is pretty simple ;)

b.) Removeable Solution - Bambulab only (at the moment) 

You can use this solution all the time whether you are using a refill or a completely new spool. Just insert the pipe (NOT the adapter) and screw both bigger lids.

You now got the choice:

• All solutions → use the bigger direct lids and the pipe

  

• All solutions → use the extra container lids and the pipe
  • you can use the new container
  • or you can use the community project container with the extra lid

By the way → you can use the container solution with all the lids ;) The “container lids” just improve the air flow.

Whatever you decide - there is no more silica falling down to the ground :)
