Description

Also checkout my compatible Silica System :)

Great NEWS → Kevin created a fully customizeable OpenSCAD LID for this project :) You can find it here

Hi guys,

many of you printed my V1 & V2 silica boxes. I decided to rework the boxes to fit almost ALL spools! ALL SPOOLS?! REALLY?? HOW??

..by your participation :) (a 2 minute effort only & you can earn points!)

The idea is simple → one BASE (45mm diameter) various LIDs (custom for each spool)!

The V1 & V2 Boxes were able to be filled with 100g silica. This is pretty cool but maybe a bit too much :P So I reduced the size, improved the print by reducing complexity and using thicker walls, reduced the print time AND designed a LID template which can be edited by YOU.

How?

  • Download the Fusion 360 file from the RAW models and open the file in fusion.
  • Measure the hole of your spool
  • Open the only sketch in the file and change the value from 54.9 (Bambu loose fit!) to your size.
  • Export via printing option
  • DONE

Bonus:

  • Open the 3mf
  • Place the lid this way
  • use 0.2mm Standard
  • change all to concentric
  • save
  • upload the file here as print profile. DONT FORGET to name the profile this way → ProducerName - Type [LID] DiameterInMM. maybe add some description. please ensure to add only spools that are not listed yet!

Here the whole process as GIF (realtime!)

I'm very curious how many of you guys will participate in this community project :)

THX to everybody in advance!

BR,

B@sti
