HV Storage Bins with Optional Gridfinity Base
Print Profile(5)

Bill of Materials
Description
Introduction
Fast printing spiral vase mode bins for general storage:
- Lips are standard prints glued on separately to provide stiffness and a neat accent colour.
- Optional Gridfinity bases with provisions to add 6mm magnets.
- Stackable with and without the Gridfinity base (also stacks without the additional lip!).
- 28 bin sizes available with more on the way. Sizes are denoted A x B x C where:
- A = Width in multiples of 42mm
- B = Depth in multiples of 42mm
- C = Stacking height in multiples of 7mm
Materials
- PLA works great for all parts.
- PETG translucent or other translucent materials work great for the main bins, especially with the openGrid Tool Tower with the lamp as they will be backlit.
Print Tips
As usual - all parts print easily without supports, have easy overhangs and easy bridging. However, there are still a few considerations to make a nice part:
- As a general precaution, tune your flow rate before starting to ensure the parts fit together well.
- The main bins are printed in spiral vase mode. If you download the profile and change printer, check your settings! Only the outer contour of the bins interface with the lips and bases so you can change the nozzle size and line width as you see fit.
- If you are using PETG - make sure it's dry!
- Use concentric pattern top/bottom/infill for the lips for fast printing.
- Top layers are optional for the bases.
- To make clear(ish) bins with PETG, print slow (50mm/s or slower with a low volumetric flowrate cap) and hot (~270° C) with all cooling turned off.
- Print by Object to print more than one spiral vase mode part at a time.
Print Profiles
Two print profiles are available at launch but feel free to add more with different nozzles and different settings!
- 0.4mm Nozzle - 0.6mm Line Width - 0.24mm Layer - 80mm/s - Non Translucent Materials
- 0.4mm Nozzle - 0.6mm Line Width - 0.24mm Layer - 50mm/s - Translucent PETG Gloss - No Cooling
Glue
- I have found a fast-curing gel type CA/super glue from the supermarket easy to use. Please comment below if you have other glue recommendations.
- If you are glueing together many bins, do it in a well-ventilated area.
- Let the glue dry fully before stacking them as the CA glue vapours may leave residue inside the bins. (You can clean the residue with isopropyl alcohol.)
Further Resources
Check out this Gridfinity collection for some of my other Gridfinity models and the Gridfinity subreddit for inspiration.
If you need 1x1 bins, you can print the whole thing in vase mode and still get a pretty strong bin!

Also, you can use these test strips to tune your print profile for your printer!

Changelog
24/10/2025 - Initial release with 28 bin sizes and 2 vase mode print profiles.
