Description

I was looking for an AMS stand that was a bit sturdier than the models previously available for download so I designed this one. This design incorporates just two pieces that can be printed in one shot in the x1c/p1p and then popped together quickly to form a strong bond. Each half of the stand can be printed inside the x1c/p1p in any orientation, or both halves at once in upright or upside down orientation. I printed this “upside down” as it used less support material.

This design is intended for spaces like mine (on my kitchen counter) where there is sufficient counter depth to slide the stand backwards (or sliding lower AMS forwards) when needing to access the lower AMS.

The file will import to Bambu Studio with both halves together. The “separate as objects” button in Bambu Studio lets you move each half independently.

You can slice how you'd like, but in case you're interested, I sliced this with 3 walls, 15% gyroid fill and I created some modifier boxes around the hooks and hook receptacles and made those parts a 100% rectilinear fill for a solid “lock”. I also added 60% rectilinear fill by the handle as it gets fairly thin there, although I doubt that was needed. I used Bambu PLA Marble filament for both the white and red portions (and Bambu PLA Support for the support interface). It used about 1.5 rolls of the white filament.

This is 250mm tall so it can print upright (or upside down) in the x1c/p1p without any modifications to basic settings.

note, this does not fit all versions of the AMS stand. It fits the ones I have (both purchased in August, 2023 in Canada). It may be a good idea to first print just the top slots to check compatibility with your AMS before printing the entire model. You can adjust the Z height of the model in Bambu Studio (only material above the print bed will get printed).

Solid print. Something to not is that the slots while perfect, only fit one generation of AMS, I have them all mixed up but one has narrower and more slots on the right and left although the back is fine. No biggy that one will just go on bottom :) thanks.

How do you open the bottom AMS?

I'd say you can slide the top AMS with the Holder back. Or pull the bottom one out. But it would be cooler with a sliding rack.

The stand is designed to just slide backwards when you need to get at the lower AMS. Obviously this design won't work for everyone, but in my situation there's lots of counter space so it works good.

I'm not sure what the other AMS looks like, so can't really say. Perhaps count the support lines on the side to see if they match the slots in my model. You can also download the model and just print the top inch of one side of the stand to test it. Bambu Studio let's you move the model below the build plate to do testing like that. If I ever get an AMS with the other configuration I'll update the model.

I am only looking to support my one AMS for now, however, I am looking to be able to utilize the otherwise wasted spaced under the AMS. Is this stand strong and sturdy enough to support just one AMS with nothing on the bottom? Does it matter what AMS variant we are using? I noticed that another maker's stand seemed to be very variant specific. Thanks

it's the strongest ams stand you're likely to find anywhere. it does not need the lower ams to work.
