Description

This is a easy and quick printable AMS riser for adding LEDs to your printer.

The LEDs I used are 8mm 5v COB LEDs with a usb connector plugged into the free usb slot on the P1S.

Total print time is 3.5 Hours for two plates no supports needed.

Printed in sports mode with esun PLA without any issues.

If you have an issue with the width and length being too long, swap the corners.

Check the slicer to see which corner goes with which side, they are labelled;

  • FR=Front Right
  • FL=Front Left
  • BR=Back Right
  • BL=Back Left

The top glass used on the X1/P1 series are the same so this should fit both.

1. Need an secure LED attachment like a clip or something 2. My Tube is still rubbing against the glass which is pretty disappointing because that’s the reason why I printed it I like the light and how it gets centered at the middle. However the design needs some adjustments would love to see an updated one! (I used an AliExpress light for bambu)

Appreciate the feedback. I have no issues with my LEDs coming away, I'll design some clips. I used these clips to help with the rubbing on the glass, give them a try: https://makerworld.com/models/16052

I will try those clips. I do like the Lightning in the enclosure a lot. i will try out a cable Binders for the loose LEDs

Cable ties are a good idea, or some additional double sided tape for the loose LEDs. I uploaded a new profile overnight, it raises the glass further and has a air gap for venting heat, this should also help with the PTFE tube rubbing, if you want to try it as well. Glad you like the lighting, it was the reason I designed it. The stock LED is poor and all the other risers used too much filament, were longer print times and more complex for my needs.

Can this fit onto an X1 chassis as well?

Sorry I don't have a X1 to try, but they have the same glass top so it should.

Quick question is there a channel for the LED or do you have to glue it

No channel, I used a adhesive backed LED strip

stupid question, but does the usb turn off when you turn off the light in the printer? or will the led just stay turned on all the time ?

No usb socket has power all the time when the printer is on. The LEDs I got have a inline power button.

I'm in the middle of testing a new version with air slots, it should be released in a day or two 👍

All the other additional lighting systems for my P1s have been too complicated, long prints or both. This is quick, easy and well designed. Well done!

have you found problems using pla? some people are worried it wil warp over time due to high temp printing.

I haven't noticed any issue with PLA. You could use PETG or another higher temp material if you like.
