Description

This pencil holder's woven appearance was designed to replicate the look of a basket. This is part of my Woven Series. Find all of my woven models here.

Along with the original, I have also included tall and short versions. All have the same diameter, but with varying heights:

Original: 95mm - Great for pens and pencils

Tall: 112.5mm - Better for taller items like scissors, rulers and markers

Short: 78mm - Ideal for miscellaneous items

The filament used in the pictures above is polymaker PolyTerra Army Beige PLA

Printed it so many times.. Great design. Printed it with sunlu wood at 0.16mm layer height, 3 walls, 10% infill. Slow down the speeds will help if the material is tricky like the wood.

The pencil holder that saved my sons life. Short version: Sunday morning, my wife and I was going to have our Sunday breakfast, but I begged some minutes: I wanted to see how the first real print on my newly aquired 3D printer turned out. I had decided to try to impress/justify the expence to my wife with a nice pencil holder printed in 'wood', but was not expecting much as I was new to this. We live on an old, traditional farm with several houses hundreds of years old including an 'Eldhus' (latterally 'fire house'-for making food) now for guest and office for my wife and 'Makerlab' for me - with 3d printer!). This Sunday my son slept there in his room on the second floor after a late Saturday with friends. I smelled smoke outside the house, and ran up the stairs to my son and told him to get out as something was was burning. He did - in his jockeys. Then I went into my 'Makerlab' to see if the problem was there. It wasn't but I saw this amazing pencil holder finished on the build plate. Grabbed that, went downstairs and opened the door to the kitchen. I thought maybe my son had forgotten a pizza in the oven, but no. The black, black smoke that hurled out of the opened door was like the rolling stone from the first Indiana Jones film, and I just had to turn around and run - just like in the movie. Then the fire started. My son was saved, the pencil holder was saved. The house was not. Seems my wifes office PC had started to smoulder. Since then I have ofc printed a lot of James' designs... Picture is of the hero Woven Pencil Holder, printed in add:north Wood - Nordic Birch.

Printed in Monoprice Grey With PLA, no issues but if I print another one I might lower my overhang speeds some more in the hopes that the underside of the top rope would look better.
