Description
The Idea:
I was asked on Facebook by a stranger whether I could design a parametric indoor plant pot for him—just like I designed my Parametric Pouring Cup (https://makerworld.com/de/models/1580724).
I loved the idea and got started on it the very next day.
Overview
- Fully Parametric: Adjust all the essential dimensions to suit your needs.
- Built-in Safety Mechanisms:
- Automatic limits prevent unusable or unstable shapes.
- Support-Free Printing:
- The insert base prints directly in the center of the build plate, and the pot walls print around it.
- Scalable & Customizable:
- Perfect for tiny seedlings just as much as for larger plants—whether straight, angled, or very tall.
Technical specifications:
Dimensions:
Height: 135 mm (total height of the insert)
Opening diameter: 200 mm (inner measurement at top, must be ≥ bottom diameter)
Bottom diameter: 150 mm (inner measurement at bottom, must not be larger than opening diameter)
Wall thickness: 2 mm (between 1-5 mm for stability)
Drainage:
Drainage width: 3 mm (narrow enough to hold soil, wide enough for water drainage)
Drainage quantity: 8 slots (optimal: 4-12 slots)
Bottom hole diameter: 8 mm (prevents waterlogging, hole size adjusts automatically)
Rim:
Rim outer diameter: 202 mm (approx. 2 mm larger than opening diameter, prevents rim collapse)

Built-in safety mechanisms
- Bottom diameter ≤ opening diameter: Prevents illogical, unprintable shapes.
- Drainage slot limitation: Number and width are automatically adjusted to secure the model.
- Protected bottom holes: Automatic adjustment prevents weakening of the bottom.
- Automatic alignment: Drainage slots and internal supports always remain precisely positioned.

Download & Print Customize:
Click Customize and enter your measurements. Generate: Press Generate to create the STL/3MF file. Download: Download the file (STL or 3MF). Slicing & Printing: Open the file in your preferred slicer, select material and settings, and start printing. Have fun configuring and printing your perfect inner pot! 🌱

Attention:
If your top and bottom diameter are the same or almost the same, the pins may fuse with the pot. The following guide shows you how to print the bottom separately to avoid this problem.
