Boost Me (for free)

Sending me a free Boost makes us both feel good.

I was looking to replace the cardboard border for my original 4-player Settlers of Catan (Mayfair 4th Edition) that got bent, broken and warped from years of abuse.  For me personally, I preferred the round border that crusheen created over on Thingsverse.  It OG is a little too thick for my liking so I reduced the z-axis from 4mm to 2.7mm and added white pips to show what intersections the ports affect.

I figured while I was at it, I'd merge a dice tower directly to the border to try to keep those errant dice rolls from wiping out game pieces on the board.  For the dice tower I used the modular one created by LevyTek.

NOTE: This print is NOT suitable for the A1 Mini.  I don't know if the larger pieces with the built-in dice tower base will fit on an A1 as I don't have one to test with.

Printing Instructions:

  • You DON'T need to print all 8 plates for a full border.
    • DICE TOWER on ONE (1) PORT Border Piece
      • Print Plates: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6
    • DICE TOWER on TWO (2) PORTS Border Piece
      • Print Plates: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7
    • NO DICE TOWER, just Border Pieces
      • Print Plates: 4, 5, 8

** To reduce the risk of warping, allow the print plate to cool before removing pieces (especially the border pieces).

** If you don't want a textured dice tower, disable fuzzy skin for the “Tower Base” on Plate 1 or two (depending on what configuration you print as per the above) and all objects on Plate 3.

** If you want a textured finish for the water border, enable fuzzy skin (contour .3/.3) for all pieces and disable ironing.

Assembly:

Alternate between the 1 port and 2 ports pieces until you have a full circle.  Use the hex tiles and port tokens from the original game to build the game board.

Awesome design! Pieces interlock very tightly and fit the harbor tokens and the hex tiles perfectly. Would love a way to expand for 5-6 players. For some reason, my port pips didn't print in white. I'm new to this so maybe I missed something I was supposed to do.

This works well. I ended up creating press in pips instead of doing color swaps for the border. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2290509-press-fit-pips#profileId-2499115

Any chance of a 5-6 player expansion version in the works?

Can’t print on the a1 :(

It should print fine on the A1 as the build plate volume is the same as the PS1 that this was designed on. I just didn't list it as compatible because I don't have an A1 to run a test. I just sliced it using the A1 settings and it seems to have sliced ok at least.

Your ports on the single pieces are put in the incorrect position unfortunately

You may need to change the order that the pieces are connected together.
