  • Do not change the orientation of the parts.
  • I printed with PLA at 0.2mm/layer.
  • Use high-quality PLA - avoid matte PLA as it is not very flexible, especially for the spring. -
  •  Let the parts cool down well before assembling everything – if you’re in a hurry, place them in the freezer before assembly – assembling with hot parts and stressing the spring and trigger will alter the tolerances – don’t do it

    Assembly video:

The Mechanical Dice is a mechanical device shaped like a pocket watch, fully 3D-printed. Its refined design evokes the classic style of a pocket watch, featuring a circular case with elegant details. At the center of the top, there is a button: when pressed, it activates an internal wheel with the faces of a standard die (numbers 1 to 6). The wheel spins as long as the button is held down and stops instantly upon release, revealing a random die face.

Amazing design. I added a print profile to this project for an Improved Replacement Spring. I had issues with the spring breaking when fully depressing the actuator. So I modified the design to allow the spring for the same deflection with less stress.

I found it in the profiles, but I can't download it. I don't have a bamboo so have to download stl files

You can install Bambu and then export the part as an STL file.

Works. Used octagram spiral on the bottom for visual interest.

No AMS 1 plate 0.2mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill
Good print and great design. Quite satisfying and addictive to roll for no real reason. Have no issues so far with original spring, although I did let everything cool completely before assembly as I decided to paint it while still unassembled. I did have to reprint the dice plate as 2 of the dice failed to adhere to bed, was remedied with a clean and some adhesive spray, More than likely a user error than anything else but you may want to ensure your bed is prepped for this one. Thank you!

After I broke two parts, I replaced them with rubber bands. The effect was the same or even better. It is recommended to use small rubber bands for better results.

AMS, all in one plate (print by object)
I was surprised to see a skirt. Haven't used on in a very long time! The print quality was great. My spring broke on the first flex though. I may add reinforcement to it and reprint.

I've created a Improved Replacement Spring profile in this model project. If you look a the profiles and scroll down you'll see the Improved Replacement Spring profile. I have found that this works really well so far.

Yeah, I hardly ever use skirts. But what's the point of skirting?

back before good adhesion, the skirt.was meant to print around the object so you could watch it for any issues. some even would adjust their bed level to tweak it. a good skirt means that the bed was nice and level so the print could proceed. or at least that's my understanding

Pretty cool print. The first spring broke after a couple rolls. The second, I printed at 99% infill and seems to be holding up better. Painting of the faces didn't seem to work well for me but I've found it finicky, at times, in Bambu Studio anyways so it's not likely a problem with the model. Overall, well done!
