Musical Fidget (New Years Edition)

I proudly present the New Years 2025 edition of the original Musical Fidget, designed to set the perfect mood for New Year’s Eve celebrations!

This version plays the full classical Auld Lang Syne melody in four parts, distributed across three fidgets. For the best experience, gather three people to play it together—it’s the ultimate way to celebrate! To get a better idea of how it works, check out the demonstration video:

Printing

The Musical Fidget is straightforward to print, but good bed adhesion is essential. The included print profiles come with a brim by default, which can be disabled if you’re feeling adventurous.

For a festive touch, the profiles are multi-coloured, but the music will play just as well when printed in a single colour. If you prefer single-color prints, an optimized version is available on the second plate of the print profile.

Assembly

Assembling your New Year Musical Fidget is simple:

1. Insert the slider into its designated slot.
2. Align and gently push the two larger pieces together.

Be cautious during this step, as the “tabs” can be fragile along the layer lines. I found it best to secure one side first, then gently press the tabs on the other side while pushing them into place. If any tabs break, don’t worry—gluing the parts together works perfectly well. If you want, you can also attach a Keychain to the fidget using the available hole.

Playing

To play the music:

• Move the slider slowly while maintaining the rhythm of the song.
• The melody plays in one direction only.
• Arrow indicate the correct playing direction.

Pro Tip: For louder playback, press the fidget against a surface to amplify the sound.

Reprogramming

The print profile includes objects labeled as Tone # to easily adjust the fidget’s tune. To reprogram:

1. Select a object in your slicer.
2. Use the scale feature while holding Ctrl to change the base height of each tone, altering its pitch.
3. Adjust only in one direction (vertical).

Here are some tested tone heights (in mm):

• 10.2 = G
• 11.5 = A
• 12.1 = Bb
• 13.0 = B
• 13.8 = C
• 15.15 = D
• 15.9 = Eb
• 16.2 = E
• 16.9 = F
• 17.4 = Gb
• 18.2 = G
• 19.1 = A
• 20.2 = B
