Description

Here's the 2nd version that improves some features!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1:
I wanted to have a spool holder with bearings to make everything smoother and with less friction. So I took a cue from various models in Makerworld and jumped into Blender.

I started from Robin's model:

  • I made a smoother modification that allowed the printhead not to collide against the holder

  • Instead of a thread for the print spool, I added a dovetail joint. This allow to orient the Base.stl horizontally and gain much more strenght

  • I angled the cone to 90 degrees for filament guide. This reduces the volume occupied by the spool holder

Then I proceeded to modify Jimbobble's model:

  • Removed the thread and added a dovetail joint
  • Made it more compact

What to print and how

  • 1x Hook.stl
  • 1x Base.stl
  • 2x Half Roller.stl (Print with “Base Shell Layers set to 0 in BambuStudio)
    • You could use some glue to join the two halves, but the bearings will do so automatically, so it will not be necessary.

Assembly

  1. Unload the filament and take off the PTFE tube from the filament guide
  2. Unscrew the bolt hidden in the ball hinge of the filament guide
  3. Screw the filament guide into the just printed Hook
  4. Slide the bearings on either end of the Roller
  5. Clip the Roller assembly into the Base
  6. Slide the Base into the Hook's dovetail joint
  7. Install on the printer
