Description

Made a topcover to facilitate a second spool and hold a PTFE tube inlet for both spools. Originally, when Z goes down; filament slacks. This used to tangle filament for me if the spool is very full. putting the PTFE inlet in a fixed position resolves this.

Of course this does not change material like the AMS but it is easier to swap filament by pushing pulling the filament.

Also holds nozzles in the holes at the top.

made this out of PETG but i wouldve appreciated the stiffer PLA here.

Bambu labs sells extra tubes and ptfe adapters. i used 1/8th 4mm connectors instead of M6 connectors. Let me know i you want a design change for threads.

Great design! Makes a nice addition to the A1 Mini. I made a couple of modifications. I added a small piece the fits in the end (with a tongue into a slot) to anchor it to the upper screw where the original end cap was secured. It is a little more attractive and may provide some additional strength to counter the spool weight. I also added hex shaped recesses for the ptfe tube holders (Bambu model PC4-M6) to allow for enough thread through the bottom to put a nut to hold them in place.

This is a great design and a much-needed addition for anyone with an A1 Mini! After browsing multiple dual spool holder models, I found this one to be the best. However, I made a few modifications to adapt it to work seamlessly with HimAgain’s fantastic swivel connector while still using the original PTFE connector that comes on the printer. By incorporating HimAgain’s swivel, the filament aligns perfectly in the middle of the spool and can pivot smoothly, rather than being restricted by the original static dual connector. More importantly, this modification makes the setup modular—if the swivel ever breaks, you can simply unscrew and replace the broken parts instead of reprinting the entire dual spool holder. Which I realize is highly unlikely but now its an option. All that’s needed for this adaptation is an additional PTFE connector from a coupler (available from Bambu Lab, Amazon, or AliExpress) and an extra PTFE tube. With these changes, you get a more flexible, efficient, and easily maintainable setup. For more info on HimAgain’s swivel connector: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1140407-a1-dual-external-spool-holder-2025-model#profileId-1160119 If you’re looking for a more adaptable and modular dual spool setup, this is the way to go!

Hello Outerorbit, Would it be possible for you to send me the 3MF file as well? It would be fantastic, as I find your modification a far more sensible solution than fixing a PTFE tube for the dual-nozzle upgrade on the A1 mini.

Nice work here on the modifications. Would you mind sharing your model with me? Also, what did you use for the connector for the PTFE tube?

I created a roller bearing cover for this spool holder because I was having issues with too much friction with full spools. You can find the model by searching for "Rolling Cover for A1 Mini Second Spool Holder" here on MakerWorld

Works great and plenty strong. I ordered the Bowden connectors and ptfe tube off Ali express for just a few dollars. I do recommend the roller attachment from another commenter here if you are using cardboard spools as they bind up on the holder.

The filament ran out halfway through, so I tried making it with a different color. It printed cuter than with a single color

The print went very well, now I still need to test the object with PLA instead of PETG as suggested 🙂
