Description
Update 29-Nov-2024: Adjusted hole sizes to have better tolerances with genuine Molymod bond linkages.
A tetrahedral atom for a molecular model kit. Whether you want a tetrahedral atom in a specific colour, just need a few more than what your set include, or if the real Molymods are too pricey for you, here you go I guess.
This is Molymod-compatible and accepts Molymod bond linkages. It is 23 mm in diameter, the standard Molymod atom size.
Most common suitable atoms include carbon (black), tetrahedral/bent oxygen (red), tetrahedral nitrogen (light blue), as well as phosphorus, silicon, sulphur, or any other tetrahedral geometry including the metal centre for a tetrahedral metal complex.
File does not include anything other than the tetrahedral atom (the pink one in the photo). More atoms and geometries are coming soon.
I used 3 walls and 10% gyroidal infill, which is more than enough strength given the small spherical shape. You can increase the wall count/infill if you want it a little heavier (mine is 3 grams, significantly lighter than a genuine Molymod).
Some other projects include:
- A kit for making a molecular model of graphite
- Octahedral atom part
- Single bond linkage
- and more on my profile
Thanks for checking this out!
