Description

Roughly inspired from some cup koozie models that I have seen. Nothing that I saw quite matched the function and aesthetic of what I wanted, so the obvious thing to do was spend 20+ hours conceptualizing, designing, printing, testing, re-designing this system.

There are currently 6 parts:

  • Dwarven Style Mug
  • Magnetic Dice Tower Attachment
  • Base with Rolling Tray (V3)
  • 355ml Can Adapter/Spacer (V2)
  • 12oz Slim Can Adapter (V4)
  • Base with Rolling Tray - Minimalist Version (V1)

Magnets Required (optional):

  • Mug - Tower: 8mm x 3mm (qty8)
  • Tower - Base: 8mm x 3mm (qty6)

If magnetic function is not desired you can just glue the Dice tower to the Mug with zero issues/problems.

The Dwarven Style Mug was inspired from dungeons and dragons, with a banded wooden barrel aesthetic, without the chunky and girthy feel that I have seen previously incorporated. It is designed around a TALLBOY can (think energy drink) to fit a very ERGONOMIC handle for all hand sizes. It incorporates magnets along the banding at the top and bottom, in a similar shape and color so that if the dice tower isn't desired, it can be de-coupled and used just as a drink holder while the dice tower remains magnetically attached to the base.

The dice tower is sized for sufficient dice spin, some of the shorter versions of the towers didn't create enough random dice randomization trajectories, this has 3 internal baffle walls with a 90 degree chute at the bottom for multidimensional randomness plus decent throw on exiting the chute. It incorporates magnets into the BACK to be attached to the MUG, and it also incorporates magnets into the BOTTOM to be detached from the mug and instead attached to the BASE.

The base is dual function, it can both hold the combination Mug/ Dice tower with sufficient clearance for picking it up and setting it down, or it can hold the tower for rolling dice while you drink at the same time.

This system is designed to be able to fit spacers and adapters into the bottom of the TALLBOY sized Mug in order to adapt it to standard 355ML North America soda cans.

Edit 2023/11/04

I have also now uploaded a 12oz slim can adapter to the second print profile. Grab plate 5 from the second designer file, or download the raw file and add it with a few painted supports to the original print profile.

Edit 2023/11/06

I have uploaded a few new files as replacement.

Base V3: I have added 10mm to the length so super strong magnets don't interfere with the mug and tower when separated. I have also changed the magnets in the base to 8.2mm instead of 8.0mm to allow for variances in magnet dimensions

355ml Spacer V2: I have added another 0.3mm to the spacer interlock dimension. This should allow for a slightly easier twist function instead of it sticking or you having to shave the interference down a bit

12oz Slim Can Spacer V4: I have changed the inside dimension from 57.7 to 58.1mm. I have also fixed a slight dimension change in the model that came from a non-linked parametric dimension

Edit 2024/12/06

I have added one more file, a smaller base unit as requested by a few individuals.  Available for download separately - and uploaded a newer profile including all of the items

Boosted. Print worked great with no issues, just waiting for the magnets to be delivered to finish it off. Printed for a young cancer patient at the hospital my partner works at who is all excited to be done with her treatments this week and able to rejoin her adventure group. Added the player's character name and fav saying to the dice pen. The lettering sits way to high for smooth rolling of dice and I was having a lot of issues trying to get it to print flush and could never get it working so if OP can include editable text boxes that print flush that would be amazing.

turned out so good! Will be making one for each of my party members as a campaign gift 🎁 edited to add pics. also a suggestion to have the can insert hollow so that you can keep dice in it for traveling or when using the skinny can insert.

very good print. had trouble with the 355 can adapter though, the small latches broke off with the supports. Will likely just glue it in
