Description

UPDATE 10.12.25: Added 6001Z roller bearing variant with print profile.

UPDATE 04.02.25: Added 6000Z roller bearing variant with print profile. It's redesigned from the 608 model. A new feature is a 2mm screwdriver slot on the rollers for initial breaking up if needed. In the future, I will upload other bearing variants from the 60X/X family here and update the title accordingly.

Thanks to all who liked and supported my first version of 608 Roller Bearing, I was inspired to design new and better 3D printed 608 roller bearing! Unlike my first version which relies on low friction, I wanted to design a rolling 608 bearing with a real mechanical bearing principle. So after hours in front of the CAD, printing, testing, and all over again here it is. As my previous model, this one follows the same O.L.S. Design - Optimal tolerances for Low friction and Stability.

08.04.25 Important:

I have noticed that some people are removing the cage after printing, possibly thinking it serves as a support. However, the cage is a crucial part of the bearing and should NOT be removed.

Printing tips and possible problems:

  • It is important to use the provided print profile, as it has been specifically designed to handle the low tolerances.
  • Ignore the "floating region" warning in BambuStudio.
  • Ensure a well-cleaned bed for proper adhesion.
  • If the bearing is too loose or tight, it is likely due to under or over-extrusion.
  • If the first layers are melting, try lowering the bed temperature or moving the model to a different location, as there may be hotspots on the heat bed that cause this issue.
  • Smooth PEI is preferable for optimal results.
  • Materials prone to stringing can significantly impact the performance of the bearing.

Post-processing:

To break up the bearing and any micro adhesions push the cage and the rollers a couple of times alongside the bearing axis, then roll the outer ring only for a minute.

Let the rolling begin!

If you need a spool roller, you can check the Ultimate Spool Roller for 608 bearings. JediPieHut's simple and sleek design is specially designed for these bearings, for which I thank him!
