3D Model Description

I converted my YakGear outrigger into a motorized version, but this upgrade is compatible with most outriggers on the market, including DIY setups.

Parts Required for Conversion:

  • 2060 Aluminum Extrusion Profile: The required length and mounting screws will depend entirely on your specific kayak, so you will need to figure out those measurements for your setup.
  • 1x Bolt: $\frac{3}{4}\text{"}$ diameter, $2\,\frac{1}{4}\text{"}$ long (with nuts).
  • 16x Screws: M4, 16mm long.
  • 16x T-Slot Nuts: M4.
  • 2x Linear Actuators: 4" (100mm) stroke, minimum of 500N or greater force, including their mounting kits.
  • 2x Loop Pins: $\frac{3}{8}\text{"}$ diameter, 3" long.
  • 2x Loop Pins: $\frac{1}{4}\text{"}$ diameter, 3" long.

Additional Parts Needed for a DIY Build:

  • All of the conversion parts listed above.
  • 2x Pontoons / Floats
  • 2x Aluminum Tubes or EMT: 1" OD (Some people use PVC piping, but I do not recommend PVC for this).
  • 2x Mount Parts: To secure the pontoon into the arm tube.

Note: If you need a custom bracket for your stabilizer, please let me know your dimension requirements in the comments and I will do my best to design them for you!

3D Printing Settings

  • Quantity: Print all parts x2
  • Infill: 100%
  • Recommended Filaments: ASA, ABS, PETG, CF-PC, PC, Nylon (PA6 or PA12), or PP (with or without CF/FG reinforcement).

I successfully printed my own set using Polycarbonate reinforced with fiberglass (PC-FG) on a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle using my Bambu Lab X1C/P1S.

All other filament types are untested—print at your own risk!
