Description

This is my first motorized design. I just wanted to make some engineering work, take gears and create something useful.
So I made this USB powered Yarn Winder with materials from Bambulam Maker's Supply.

This design is inspired by Yarn-O-Matic: yarn winder created by Ashwood. His fully 3D printed model is an engineering masterpiece, check it out.

Also, Spikeon Studio created an Electronics Case for this winder. Click on the link if you need one:

Hey, so, I'm making this for my mother. She's not as tech savvy as I am and exposed motors and wires are not going to fly with her. Would it be at all difficult for you to whip up a cover for the motor? Maybe one that the USB speed controller could be mounted in? I can take a stab at it myself, but frankly it'd be best coming from the same designer.

Oh. I was thinking about it, but can't promise that such an upgrade will be made in the near future.

In that case, any chance you can send me the step files? I want to get this done before Mother's day.

i feel dumb for asking this, but does the 6204 Plastic Deep Groove Ball Bearing, have to be a plastic one? can i use a regular 6204 bearing? shipping is quite expensive to where i live from Bamboo's shop.

Sure, you can use the regular one if dimensions are the same. The reason I used the plastic one is because I had it plastic only and it was included in essential kit.

Looking to upgrade my wife’s winder. Will this one accommodate large skeins like Bertnat’s blanket yarn?
