Airplane Cup Caddy and Phone Stand - Folds Flat!

This is my folding cup caddy and phone stand that hooks onto an airplane tray table while it is in the up position.  The cup caddy prints flat with no assembly required!  When folded flat for storage in your travel bag, it is only 10mm (3/8") thick.  There are two positions of clips that fold out if you want to use it to hold your phone in a comfortable position while you watch a movie or read.  A cup saddle folds out to support cans.  It will also hold a regular cup that the flight attendants give you, or your coffee that you bought from the Starbucks.

NOTE ABOUT PRINTING:  I painstakingly dialed in the tolerances between the rotating parts.  If your filament profile is not well calibrated with the filament you are using, the parts may be difficult to free up for rotating due to over-extrusion or hot end temperature.  I have printed a dozen of these and all worked perfectly.  I also tested with a bad filament profile that did not match the filament I was using and I could not free the arms.  If you have issues like that, please check your filament profile.

I finally "googled" precision calibration for (insert your printer) 3d printer. After following the instructions and slowing the speed down on the outer walls etc. I have been successful in printing 3 of these for some frequent fly co-workers. And i used various of filaments. From Anycubic, bambu, Elegoo, Kingroo... and they all printed flawlessly. I unfortunately only got one picture before i took them to work. First photo: failed. Second: baby blue is the success. So if you have failures, look up how to calibrate your printer for precision work. Might help you. :)

So, if you have issues with the arms not separating or the rotating parts don't rotate easily…take 3MightyMouse3's advice and dial in your printer!  Not only will it help with this print, but all your future prints as well!!

After printing in place, the parts will need to be freed up in order to rotate smoothly.  Take care when moving the parts for the first time and follow the pictures below.

The hooks only rotate in one direction as shown in step 2.  DO NOT TRY TO FORCE THEM BY ROTATING THEM THE WRONG DIRECTION!  YOU WILL BREAK THEM AND THEN YOU WILL BE SAD AND PROBABLY BLAME ME IN THE COMMENTS.

If needed, push the cup saddle down to hold an aluminum can or slender cup.

The phone stand tabs rotate up from the underside of the cup caddy.  There are two sets of tabs depending on the viewing angle of your phone that you prefer.

Print a couple of these so you have one for your drink and one for your phone!
