Assembly Instructions (Filament Hinge)

This model uses a Filament Hinge for maximum durability. Instead of a brittle 3D-printed pin, it uses a standard piece of 3D printer filament.

1. Align: Lay the two halves flat and mesh the hinge "knuckles" together.
2. Insert Pin: Take a short length of 1.75mm filament (PLA or PETG works great) and slide it through the hinge hole.
3. Secure: Use a pair of flush cutters to trim the filament. Optional: Gently touch the ends of the filament with a lighter for 1 second to "mushroom" the tips so the pin never slides out.

How to Use

1. Unfold: Open the template. The filament hinge allows it to lay perfectly flat on your paper.
2. Align: Position on your Bristol board. The 13x4" size aligns perfectly with standard 14x5" (or larger) comic art paper.
3. Trace: Use a light pencil (2H or non-photo blue) to trace the inner panel borders.
4. Scan & Scale: Scan your finished art and scale the digital file to a 6-inch width (approx. 46%) for professional publication standards.

Warping Prevention (Crucial) Because this is a long, thin print, these steps are necessary to prevent corner lifting:

• Brim Type: Outer Brim Only (5mm to 8mm width).
• Brim-Object Gap: 0.1mm to 0.15mm.
• Build Plate Temp: 65°C to 70°C for PLA.
• Auxiliary Fan: Turn this OFF.
• Mouse Ears: Alternatively, add 20mm diameter x 0.2mm high discs to the four outer corners in your slicer.
