Description

Hi everyone!

I’ve always been fascinated by the perfect geometry of honeycombs, but finding high-quality silicone molds for them can be tricky or expensive. That’s why I developed this Honeycomb Master Mold Creator!

This is not just a part to print; it’s a tool to create your own professional-grade silicone molds.

How it works:

  1. Print: Print the white master mold using PLA.
  2. Pour: Fill the printed form with 2-component silicone (I personally used Shore 21). No release agent was needed in my tests with PLA – it separated perfectly!
  3. De-mold (Design for Destruction): To get the finished silicone mold (the blue part in the photo) out without any struggle, I designed the outer walls to be thin. Once the silicone is cured, you can simply peel, bend, or carefully cut the 3D-printed walls away. This ensures a perfect result every time!

Specifications:

  • Standard Size: 160 x 110 x 27 mm
  • Honeycomb Cell Size: 5 mm
  • Wall/Gap Thickness: 1.5 mm
  • Scalability: You can easily scale the model in your slicer if you need larger or smaller honeycomb patterns.

What can you make with it? Once you have your silicone mold, the possibilities are endless! You can cast:

  • Soap (as seen in my yellow example in the background!)
  • Beeswax or Candles
  • Epoxy Resin for decorative trays or coasters
  • Plaster or Concrete for textured art

Enjoy creating your own honeycomb casts! I’d love to see your results in the 'Makes' section!
