Description
Expand your workspace vertically! The SideRail 20 is a modular mounting system based on a standard 20mm aluminium tube.
Originally designed to mount an LED panel to the side of a wooden cabinet, this system is versatile enough to hold cameras, phones, or tools. The brackets feature integrated dovetails, allowing you to slide on new clamps or accessories without unscrewing the base.
Key Features
- Solid Base: Uses a cheap and rigid 20mm aluminium pipe (often sold as conduit or wardrobe rails).
- Modular Design: Top and bottom mounts have dovetail slots for future expansions.
- Dual Arm Options: Compatible with existing flexible arms, but also includes a custom Heavy-Duty Arm for heavier equipment like lights.
Included Parts & Options
1. The Base System
- Wall Mounts (Top/Bottom): Screw these into your desk or cabinet side using wood screws.
- Dovetail Rod Holder (Top/Bottom): Slot these into the wall mounts and put the aluminium tube in between.
2. The Arms (Choose what you need)
- Option A: The Rigid Short Arm (My Design): This is a custom-designed, shorter arm focused on stiffness and stability. It is significantly stronger than standard articulated arms, making it perfect for holding the weight of an LED panel without sagging.
- Option B: The Flexible Adapter: A clamp designed to fit the popular “Flexible, sturdy phomne Arm”. This replaces the base of that model so you can mount it to this rail.
3. The Cold Shoe Mount
- Includes a Cold Shoe adapter perfect for LED panels or camera accessories.
- Smart Angle Adjustment: The joint features a ring of holes. You only need 4x M3 screws to lock it (not 12!). The extra holes allow you to rotate the mount and lock it at the exact angle you need.
BOM (Hardware needed)
- 1x 20mm Aluminium Tube (cut to desired length)
- 8x 3.5mm Wood screws (min. 15mm length) for the wall mounts
- 20x M3x25mm countersunk bolts + nuts (for the arm clamps)
- 4x M3x25mm countersunk bolts + nuts (for the Cold Shoe locking mechanism)
Print Settings
- Material: PETG or PLA+ (Essential for stiffness).
- Walls: 4 walls minimum (High strength required).
- Infill: 20% Gyroid.
