This is a high-strength reinforced shelf bracket designed specifically for IKEA PAX wardrobes. It locks into place using both the vertical peg holes in the carcass and pins that align with the underside of the shelf, creating a rigid triangular support that dramatically increases load capacity compared to stock IKEA hardware.

The bracket is fully compatible with IKEA’s own small triangle shelf supports — its top surface is leveled with the originals — so you can use it as a drop-in upgrade or combine it with the factory brackets for even more reinforcement.

To secure the bracket, it accepts two standard 6.3×13 mm hinge screws (the same type used for PAX doors). For easy installation inside the narrow PAX interior, the screw openings have oversized access holes, allowing the use of a magnetic drill-bit holder or even a regular screwdriver with no clearance issues.

This design has been battle-tested in my own PAX unit, supporting 25 boxes of 1.1 kg filament rolls — over 27 kg of real load — with zero flex, sag, or creaking. If your PAX shelves carry heavy gear (tools, printers, storage, media, etc.), this bracket is a massive stability upgrade.

Printing recommendations

  • Material: PETG recommended for rigidity
  • 4 walls with 5 top and bottom shell layers
  • Infill: cross hatch 10%
  • Printed pins are included in the model and require supports (enabled in the project)

 

Update: January 6, 2026

To better fit different shelf layouts and reinforcement needs, I’ve added two additional bracket sizes as separate print profiles.

  • Large (original): occupies 4 vertical PAX hole spaces, secured with 2 screws
  • Medium: occupies 3 vertical PAX hole spaces, secured with 1 screw (centered)
  • Small: occupies 2 vertical PAX hole spaces, secured with 1 screw (bottom position)

All versions have the same thickness, maintain the same shelf height alignment and compatibility with IKEA’s original triangle brackets.
