This design is based on a wooden yarn bowl my SO found in a store for >$45. I took some artistic liberty when copying the design.
To aid in fulfilling its purpose I made the bottom large and flat while the inside is as smooth as possible to allow for the yarn to roll around easily.
I recommend getting a rubber pad or some other kind of anti-slip material to stick to the bottom.
I printed this in Colorfabb Woodfill and finished with some light sanding (more on the inside to let the yarn roll smoothly) and a transparent mahogany varnish.

I printed this in Colorfabb Woodfill and am in the process of sanding, staining and coating it.
If your printer can handle overhangs of 50 degrees it will require minimal supports, only on the details. As you can see in the picture supports printed in woodfill are
easy to remove without damaging the print.
I highly recommend using a woodfill type filament for this.
