IKEA Malm Filament Storage System

This is a custom filament storage solution designed specifically for the IKEA Malm dresser (4-drawer version). It turns one or more of the deep drawers into perfectly organized filament storage with room for up to 20 spools, all neatly aligned and easy to access.

How it works

The system is made up of two simple printed parts:

• Short part x 10
• Long part x 10
• 1 x each of the spacers.

You’ll need to print 10 of each to build a full grid for one drawer. These parts simply snap together inside the drawer, forming a sturdy support grid for the filament spools to sit in.

At the very end, use the last 2 spacers to lock everything in place.

Important note ⚠️

To make this system fit properly, you will need to sacrifice the front board piece inside the Malm drawer. Removing this part creates the extra space needed for the grid and filament spools to sit flush. Without this step, the drawer won’t close properly.

I have modified my drawers and put vinyl on top: See link here (when i am done uploading that STL) so that you can't see the gap anymore.

I have only tested it with bambu filament but should work or be modifiable to multiple different spools.

Assembly

1. Print 10 short and 10 long parts.
2. Snap them together in the drawer to form the grid.
3. Insert the final two spacers at the back to secure the grid.
4. Place your filament spools, close the drawer, and enjoy a clean, organized storage solution.
