Description

Key covers for lovers

The idea was born to distinguish the house key (or other key) for a couple (two copies of the same key, one for each), and I liked the idea of making it like the pendants lovers have, each with a half-heart. Naturally, each half-heart contains the partner's initial (customizable in Bambu Studio).

Minimum filament consumption starting from just 7g for a pair of key covers.

The basic construction was simple, but the challenge was to keep the structure extremely thin (just over 1mm from the key) and strong thanks to the interlocking joints that hold it together, as well as making it as universal as possible (given the countless key models available).

The locking joints have a minimal tolerance, so much so that a blade is needed to reopen them once closed. However, if any pins become loose during closing (printers have slightly variable tolerances), we recommend using glue to be safe.

The recommended material is PETG (for better wear resistance), but you can also print it in PLA (the tolerances have been tested for both) or more durable materials.

There are currently 10 key models (the most popular ones). Contact me if you need a specific model and we'll see if it's feasible.

It's always nice to receive appreciation when you've dedicated time and resources to designing something and making it available to everyone.

Below are photos of the available models (the prints have tolerances for the key fit so they do not have to be precise to the tenth of a millimetre). If you are unsure whether the model is suitable, we recommend printing only half of it (of the half heart) and checking for compatibility.
