I made this self-similar rhombic dodecahedron fractal model while exploring geometry using CAD software. In my opinion, it looks especially stunning when printed in dual or tri-color silk PLA.
Print Settings (I Used the Bambu Lab P1P):
Please double check adhesion settings before starting this print!
This model has a relatively small base and a much larger top section, which makes it top-heavy. A brim is required for stability.
The included 3MF was sliced and tested on a Bambu Lab P1P with a brim enabled by default. If you change printer, plate, or filament profiles, your slicer may override certain settings (including the brim).
Nozzle: 0.4 mm
Layer Height: 0.16 mm Layers with 0.2mm Base Layer
Infill: In the included 3MF, I set the infill to 10% Gyroid, but the geometry causes the part to print mostly solid anyway.
Brim: Use both an inner and outer brim for stability and proper adhesion.
Supports: None
Bottom Layer Pattern: Hilbert curve (Optional - I think it looks cool but it's not necessary.)
