Horizontal Mount for Folding Ruler

📝 Description

This is a custom-designed horizontal wall mount for a folding ruler (also known as a carpenter’s ruler). It was modeled to fit a ruler measuring 249mm long × 17mm wide × 34mm tall (approximately 9.8” × 0.67” × 1.34”).

The inner dimensions of the holder are 250mm long × 18mm wide × 30mm high (~9.84” × 0.71” × 1.18”), giving the ruler just enough room to be placed in and removed easily — not too tight, not too loose.

The mount includes two countersunk screw holes for a clean and secure attachment to a wall or tool board.

💡 Why I Made This

I made this holder because I wanted to see my name engraved on my folding ruler. The text is written horizontally, so it can only be read when the ruler is stored horizontally. In vertical holders, the ruler stands at an angle and the text isn't visible like it should be.
(You won’t see my name on the ruler in the photos — for obvious reasons.)

This version keeps the ruler visible, and easy to grab.

📦 Additional print details:

• Printed in PLA, but PETG or ABS will also work well I think
• Designed for 2 countersunk screws
• No infill tweaks needed — the ruler is very lightweight

• Orientation: Prints upright just fine, no need to lay it flat

   

This model is great for organizing your ruler in plain view and with quick access. Perfect for workshops, garages, or tool walls where visibility and usability matter.
