Description

Summary

This is a Motorized version of my original Triaxial Tourbillon Clock Make. The two major changes are that this version uses stepper motors to driver the carrier, and it incorporates the Triaxial Quartz Movement Upgrade. However, there are many other subtle differences from the original Triaxial design.

Here is a time lapse version of the design:

and a real-time video:
https://youtu.be/2vyGcqjci-Q.

Overview of my Triaxial makes:

My original Triaxial Tourbillon remix (https://makerworld.com/en/models/13300) is weight driven and the STLs are versions of A26's design that I modified to add ball bearings and some other features. Given the plastic escapement parts the remix was never meant to keep correct time, also it is very inefficient so the weight only keeps it working for a couple of hours. Therefore it is not a practical clock. I designed the 'Triaxial Quartz Movement Upgrade' (https://makerworld.com/en/models/13301), which replaces the clock face in the remix, so it could be used to display the correct time when it was hanging on a wall.

The weight in the Triaxial Tourbillon remix is painful to wind, so make it easier to animate I designed the Motorized Astronomia. For this Motorized Astronomia design I basically started with a clean slate. All of the parts have been redesigned, with no intention to be compatible with my original remix.

Note: An Arduino .ino file os not a Bambu ‘recognized format’. Under Documentation it is posted as a text file (Astro_Motorized_Stepper_V2.ino.txt). To import it into the Arduino Integrated Developer Environment (IDE) as an .ino file, simply delete the ‘.txt’ suffix in the file name.

Hopefully it is there now. Look for "Astro_Motorized_Stepper_V2.ino.txt" in the Documentation section.

Hi, This design and others that I haven't posted to MakerWorld are posted on my Thingiverse and Cults3d pages. Please look there for the Arduino code. And I will look into fixing the problem on the MakerWorld site. Regards, Steve
