Description

.44 Magnum bullet dice!

Inspired by a friend's comment, “I hate rolling dice as the DM against my friends in my old-west campaign,” these dice were modeled after and based on my grandfather's .44 magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk revolver. These look great on the table with any old-west game - DND, Zombicide old-west, etc.

And now, of course, my friend is THRILLED for any excuse to roll dice against the players in his DND campaign. Sorry, players.

Check out my version for the metal Lynx D6 set!

Included in these files are:

  • Bullet dice - d3, d4, and d6; Dice are printed at 100% infill and have been balanced as much as possible to ensure even probability
  • Chamber case with a passthrough-inspired lid design
  • Full-colored painted models with black numerals
  • Low-purge profiles with inset numbers (no color)
  • Profiles for the A1 mini, A1, and X1C with more to come!

revolver part is great, there was SO MUCH WASTE when printing the dice that I had to stop the print. will revisit the dice once I learn the program better and can adjust the settings.

Yep, that’s the one downside to the full color dice. I have an alternate dice profile that doesn’t color in the numbers - it has WAY less waste. Typically I print the full color dice in sets of 5 or so to minimize waste over all.

Thank you for the info! I didn’t realize that! I actually printed the revolver for some dice I already had but since they didn’t fit, I tried to print the ones that came with it. I am new to this and can’t figure out how to get the file into fusion so I can play with the diameter of the holes :( I’ll get there eventually. I’ve only been printing for 7 days, lol

What brand are those dice? I did another chamber case for some Lynx dice. If you send me dimensions for those I can upload another design for your dice as well - tweaking the design doesn’t take too long. Grab as many dimensions as you can find and send them to pegasus3dprinting@gmail.com. And welcome to the printing scene! it’s a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it’s a blast!

while the cylinder doesn’t fit the dice i already have as i’d hoped, that’s no fault of the design/profile. print came out perfectly, my dice are just too short. that said the diameter is nearly identical. it wouldn’t take much work to alter the design into something better suited to LYNX’s dice. the biggest change that would need to be made is the inclusion of a solid bottom, as the LYNX dice lack a rim to their “case” so there’s nothing to stop them from falling through the current design

Hey, very cool! I didn't know Lynx made some. If you send me some dimensions I can upload a modified version. pegasus3dprinting@gmail.com

turned out great, not sure what filament people are using to get shiny brass/cylinder, but the metallic gold/silver tough pla I used worked great. other than setting the tough pla profile, I didn't make any changes to the profile. If I had any desire/wants, it would be a full prop revolver or pistol that could "launch" the dice, but that is probably overkill. As for the dice themselves, they roll smoothly with an excellent profile for the d6 at least, the d4 and d3 concern me with how boxy they look, but I haven't printed those in this case.

Thanks for the thorough review! I used an off brand copper filament for the bronze look. For brass I use Overture or Sunlu silk gold. And thanks for the honest thoughts on the d4 and d3. I always welcome any suggestions for improvement. 👍🏻👍🏻

I might also suggest updating the profile to randomize the seam, and using fuzzy for the bullet tip might make the lines less prominent giving off a smoother tip (I didn't try this, but might be worth testing).

This is very cool! WOuld you please modify a dice so I can also print d10 / d100?

I bet we could do a D10! I think a D100 will be too many faces though - they’ll all be so small that you can’t read the numbers. It may even be too small to print. I’ll take a look at it though, and will at least do the D10. 👍🏻👍🏻

No need for 100 sides. Do d10 (0-9) and d100 (1 sides 10, 20, 30, ...) can roll two and combine?

Oh, I see! For whatever reason I was envisioning the one hundred sided dice my sister showed me for her DND campaign. I’ll look into this and post something soon!

started to print but stopped because the print was switching filaments just to build the prime tower. it should just print gold for the first chunk but wastes a bunch of the numbers color by switching every. single. layer. even when the print has dozens of layers before a second color introduced. wasted so much filament just now.

Huh, that’s a really strange bug, I’ve never seen that before. Sorry you’re having issues. I have multiple profiles up, can you share which one had issues so I can investigate?

you wouldn’t happen to know if your design is compatible with the metal bullet dice sold by LYNX, would you? if not i’ll print for myself and comment again with the result.
