Print Profile(3)

Description

This device is for getting water straight down into the roots of your plant.
You can use it with indoor pot-plants, or out in the garden or greenhouse.
Simply push the device down into the soil, just leaving the top funnel part above the ground level so soil and debris doesn't fall in.
Then just pour water on to it, and it will flow right down into the roots. Leave the device in place for future watering.
The cross-section illustration here is of the ‘Funnel version’ with the extra area at the top.
See below for more on the differences between versions, so you can download the print profile you need.

Please consider giving this model a Boost Boost Me (for free) A boost costs you nothing to give, but both raises the profile of the model so others can find it too, and provides me with funds to help cover the costs of designing and improving models. Every boost is very much appreciated. Thank you! |
This model is available in three versions, the standard shape is available in two sizes: smaller one is best for your indoor plants, and the larger one works well outdoors or in the greenhouse: for tomatoes etc.
And the larger size is also available with an increased funnel area at the top.
There are a few similar devices, but this has a few extra features:

Rapid-flow design. The exit holes at the bottom have been carefully positioned on the bottom slope of a narrow part of the tube. The idea here is that as you push the device into the ground, the spike at the bottom pushes the soil out of the way, and where the tube is narrower, there is a void where the soil is of a lower density (as it crumbles back into this space), which means the water can more easily exit out from the tube into the surrounding ground.

- Inner helix for added strength. This is hard to spot except when printing, but there is a helix spiralling down the tube to give it some extra resilience.

NEW: "Funnel" version:
Shown below in red, the funnel version has a larger area at the top compared to the standard version (shown in black). This makes it easier to fill with water and reduce splash-back.

If this was helpful please give it a Boost - it helps raise the profile for others to find it, and is much appreciated. Thank you!

Warning: the spike is hard and sharp. Don't even think of using it for anything else.

Printing notes
These print easily without the need for supports.
For the best results, particularly with the small version where the walls are relatively thin, be sure to set the Wall Generator to Arachne (rather than Classic) This is already set in the 3MF, but if you only import the geometry you may need to set this yourself.
